Salman Khan is my mentor: Pulkit Samrat

News4u-Entertainment Desk- Actor Pulkit Samrat, who is making his Bollywood debut with Kumar Mangat’s ”Bittoo Boss”, cannot stop gushing about actor Salman Khan, who has developed a liking for him.

The 28-year-old actor says he is extremely lucky to be under the mentorship of none other than Salman.

“He (Salman) is my mentor. If he likes someone he goes all out his way to support that person. He is a man with a heart of gold and always supportive. I am blessed to have his support,” Pulkit told PTI in an interview.

Salman is known for encouraging new talents like actresses Katrina Kaif, Zarine Khan, Sneha Ulal, Hazel Keech of ‘Bodyguard’ fame and music director Himesh Reshammiya among others.

“He has knack of understanding people. What is special about him is that he does things without even you asking for it,” Pulkit added.

It all started when Salman attended the music launch of ‘Bittoo Boss’ as the chief guest, last month.

“He liked the promos and even the songs from the film…this is a big thing for me. He has some expectations from this film, hope I live up to it. I just hope whatever he is doing by going out of his way…I do not dishearten him. He is a man with the golden touch. I feel blessed,” Pulkit said.PTI

Salman Khan works thrice as hard

News4u-Entertainment Desk-Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who is a fitnessfreak and loves to shows off those fabulous abs and bulging biceps, feels he has to work two to three times more than before to match the new generation.

“I have worked hard for this body. And today I am finding it difficult because however much I have worked in those days, that much these new kids are working out in today’s date. So I have to work two-three times more,” Salman said at the Cosmopolitan Friends Association event where he came to cheer physically challenged, abandoned and orphan children.

The actor, who has turned 46, says the more you age, the more hard you need to work out.

“When we are young people, used to forgive all your things and used to say he is a kid. That time we didn’t even have to work hard. But now the more you grow, you have to work harder. You have to look younger; you have to be fitter, run faster, kick higher. All these things gives you trouble later,” he said.

Salman, who set a trend of being fit in the showbiz, suggests the youth follow a fitness regime.IANS

Salman Khan to get new villain for ‘Dabangg 2′?

News4u - Entertainment Desk : It is final - Sonu Sood has made it official that he won’t be seen in ‘Dabangg 2′. Though till a month back there were rumours making the rounds that Salman has shown keen interest in roping him back for the sequel, Sonu’s final declaration has put things in black and white.

However the twist in the tale here is that now Salman may have to hunt for a new villain and that when the film’s shooting is just a month away.

“Sonu has categorically stated that he isn’t doing ‘Dabangg 2′ since the character written for him wasn’t as powerful as Cheddi Singh. For the last six months there have been so many speculations about him being in and out of the film. However Sonu is now sick and tired of these rumours and wishes to quash them for good. For the record, he is not doing ‘Dabangg 2′. It is final and there would be absolutely no change in his stance,” informs a friend of the actor.

Though Salman is currently in Cuba shooting for ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, the onus is now on Arbaaz Khan to get his plan B into action.

“It’s a matter of time that a new name is announced for the young villain in ‘Dabangg 2′,” a source adds.

“While Prakash Raj is the main villain, there is requirement for the second villain as well since the script already has place for such a character. With Sonu not doing the film, someone else has to fit in now. It is quite unlikely that this character would be done away in entirety since it is way too late in the day to make any amends to the script. After all, the film’s shooting begins in March.”

Meanwhile Sonu has moved on and is busy promoting his next film Maximum where he is playing a solo lead. As for ‘Dabangg 2′, he maintains calm exterior and says, “No, I am not doing ‘Dabangg 2′. I wanted to do the film but the script couldn’t do justice to a character which was going to be a follow up to Cheddi Singh. I thought that it would work only if it is much stronger than the one in Dabangg 2. However it is a creative call that has been taken by the writer and the director.”

While this means that the makers have to now rope in an actor to step into a part that is presumably ‘weaker’ than the one which was seen in ‘Dabangg’, Sonu is maintaining the stance of ‘all is well’.

“My rapport with Salman and Arbaaz is as good as ever. They too realized that my take on not doing ‘Dabangg 2′ is right. I am sure in future we would do many good things together.” Agencies

Recalling an instance when his brother Sohail rang up in the early hours, Salman said, “I remember once Sohail had called up in the morning hours and started weeping profusely..

I got worried and kept asking him what happened..

Bigg Boss 5: The feeling is yet to sink in, says winner Juhi Parmar

News4u-Entertainment Desk- MUMBAI: TV actress Juhi Parmar, who has won the fifth season of controversial reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ says it is a second inning for her as her ‘weighty’ issue had kept her away from small screen.

“It is like a second inning for me….I wanted to start work but only after reducing weight…getting in proper shape. I was away from work for a year or so. My weight was a big hindrance in my career which I gained due to medical reasons. But there are no excuses accepted in the industry. For me the struggle was to lose weight…my target was that,” Juhi told PTI in an interview.

“Bigg Boss came my way so I took it up. I thought it was the right thing before I begin work with a rocking start,” she said.

Before getting into Bigg Boss, Juhi had lost 10 kgs and after going to the show she lost four kgs.

“The feeling has yet to sink in. Forget about winning the show I had never expected to be there till finale. I felt as I was not the focal point of the show I may not last longer. As I never picked up fights or anything of that sort,” Juhi said.

“I was not the silent player. I used to talk, laugh, cry, voice my opinion, stood up for the truth,” she said.

Juhi feels fights and controversies do not help any contestant in the long run.

“If pick up fights and all that was concerned then I wouldnt have won the show. I have hardly had any major fight on the show. It takes you ahead in the show as it does not help you in winning. That is not the mantra,” she said.

Juhi won Rs one crore prize money besides a trophy. But the actress has not yet thought of how she would spend the money, except that she would keep it for kids.PTI

Salman takes to Tuk Tuks to top Dabangg action

News4u - Entertainment Desk : One can always trust the unpredictableSalman Khan to come up with some crazy ideas for his movies!

In his next film, Bhushan Kumar’s Ready (produced by T-Series and Rajat Rawail), Khan recently shot for some high-voltage action sequences driving a tuk-tuk in the narrow streets of Pattaya, Thailand.

Salman, who is known for adding that extra ‘zing’ to his films, came up with the idea of shooting an action sequence in Thailand’s famous Tuk Tuks!

Subsequently, an action scene was written and shot, showing two tuk-tuks blowing up and the actor jumping into another one and driving off!

Executing the scene was not as easy as it sounds. Since the vehicles in question had to face considerable damage, the producers had to first buy three Tuk Tuks for the shoot. Bhushan Kumar and Rajat Rawail, however, happily did so, as they wish to leave no stone unturned in creating bigger and better action scenes for Ready after the success of Wanted and Dabangg.

Bhushan Kumar said, “It was (Salman) bhai’s idea to shoot with tuk-tuks which are very fast and powerful. He wanted to shoot an action sequence nobody has done before. People have shot romantic songs or scenes perhaps but such a high-voltage action sequence will be seen for the first time in Ready. People will enjoy this unique Thai action.”

An insider adds, “Salman drove the tuk-tuk expertly, although it was his first time doing so!”

Ready, starring Salman Khan and Asin, is slated for release on June 3. SCREEN

A face-off between Salman, Hrithik is inevitable

News4u - Entertainment Desk : It may well be fireworks in May next year, with Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ facing off against Salman Khan’s ‘Ready’. Though there were murmurs in the industry that Zindagi Na…. had decided to move away from the competition and arrive on a different day, film’s producer Ritesh Sidhwani denied any such plans.

“Why would Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara not release on 27th May”, said Ritesh, who was caught by surprise when asked about the change in plans for the film.

There is a small history behind the Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan face-off. The release date of ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ had been announced a few weeks ago. Suddenly, it was announced that that the Salman starrer Ready too is releasing on the same day. The same day release will invetibly turn it into a Salman Hrithik clash.

Many in the industry have speculated if it was a wise decision after all for two big films like these to clash. An industry insider said, “Though Salman has made a late entry, there was no room for ego for anyone involved. Though Zindagi… was announced a few weeks ago but since May is quite far away, either of the films could at least contemplate an arrival on a different date.”

Following this development, it was being rumoured that the producers of Zindagi Na… have postponed their film. This has been denied by Excel Entertainment’s Ritesh Sidhwani, who is producing the film. He said, “We have not changed our date. We are definitely arriving as per the original plans.”

‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, a multi-starrer, which also stars Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol, is now well into post production. On the other hand, ‘Ready’, a Salman Khan and Asin starrer, has still not completed its shooting schedule.

As per the latest news, Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Rockstar’ will also release on the same day. SCREEN

Bollywood 2010: Masala makes comeback, biggies disappoint

News4u - Entertainment Desk : Hardcore commercial films with rural backdrop made a big bang in 2010 with the success of ‘Raajneeti’ and ‘Dabangg’ but many other mega budget films like ‘Raavan’, ‘Kites’ and ‘Guzaarish’ flopped at the box office. The year began on a high note with Aamir Khan starrer ’3 Idiots’. Though the film released in late December in 2009, it continued to do well in 2010 with its feel-good appeal. The Rajkumar Hirani directedmovie is now one of the biggest blockbusters of the recent times.

However, it was Rajnikanth starrer Tamil film ‘Endhiran’, that took the crown of being the biggest hit of year. Call it the sheer magic of Rajni’s presence or director Shankar’s neatly packed action-sequences, the movietranscended language barriers to emerge the highest grosser of the year.

Thanks to Rajni, Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai got her only hit of the year with two of her mega budget movies like ‘Raavan’ and ‘Action Replayy’ failing to do well.

Small budget films like ‘Tere Bin Laden’, ‘Udaan’, ‘Phas Gaye Re Obama’ continued to surprise the convention-loving industry by earning big bucks in theatres without any backing from big stars or producers.

Some of the major disappointments of the year came from top stars and directors. Much anticipated films like ‘Mani Ratnam’s grand cinematic effort ‘Raavan’, Ashutosh Gowariker’s freedom saga ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se’ and Hrithik Roshan and Mexican stunner Barbara Mori’s ‘Kites’ failed to take flight despite the hype surrounding them.

Apart from these movies, other biggies like Salman Khan’s ‘Veer’ and Akshay Kumar-Aishwarya Rai starrer ‘Action Replayy’, Akshay’s ‘Khatta-Meetha’ also flopped.

According to trade analyist Taran Adarsh, the failure of these movies resulted in a loss of about Rs 400 to Rs 500 crore.

Another trade analyst Amod Mehra said the losses would be more than Rs 500 crore as Salman Khan’s rustic entertainer ‘Dabangg’ and ‘Golmaal 3′ were the only two superhits of the year while Prakash Jha’s ‘Raajneeti’, Milan Luthria’s period crime thriller ‘Once upon a time in Mumbai’ and ‘I hate Luv Storys’ did well.

Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘My Name Is Khan’, Aamir Khan’s ‘Peepli Live’, which is also India’s official entry to the Oscars, and Sajid Khan’s madcap ‘Housefull’ also fared well at the box office.

Mehra said a total of 237 movies including those dubbed were released during the year. “2010 was very bad. There were more flops and a very few hits. No particular trend was witnessed except the fact that hardcore commercial films were back in the business,” he said.

“Even though small movies like Love Sex aur Dhoka (LSD),Ishqiya, Khichdi, the movie, Do Dooni Chaar, Phas Gaye Obama, Tere Bin Laden, Peepli Live, Udaan recovered their costs and were critically acclaimed, it is high time that the big budget movies also run,” Mehra said.

In recent times, small budget fares like ‘Phas Gaye Obama’ and ‘Band Baja Baaraat’ scored well in comparison to Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jahan Se’ based on the 1930 Chittagong uprising, released in November.

With Akshay-Katrina starrer ‘Tees Maar Khan’ and Ajay Devgn-Kajol starrer ‘Toonpur ka Superhero’ releasing on Christmas, trade pandits hope that the year will end on a positive note for Bollywood.

With several biggies like ‘Dum Maro Dum’, ‘Game’, ‘Patiala House’, ‘Body Guard’ and Rohit Shetty’s remake of Tamil hit ‘Singum’ with Ajay Devgn, Aamir Khan’s untitled movie, his own home productions ‘Dhobi Ghat’ and ‘Delhi Belly’, Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ‘Ferari ki Sawari’, Farhan Akhtar-Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Don 2′, ‘Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara’ lined up for release, the coming year looks promising for the industry.
