Defence Ministry clears procurements worth Rs 1,10,000 crore, of which 90 % is under ‘Make in India’ campaign

News4u-News Desk- Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said on Monday that Defence Ministry has cleared procurements worth Rs 1,10,000 crore, of which 90 per cent is under ‘Make in India’ campaign.

Ahead of French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian’s visit, India said that negotiations for procurement of Rafale fighter jets for IAF will begin this month and the multi-billion dollar deal will be finalised “as early as possible”.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday said the government to government committee will be set up which will begin negotiations on the deal.

Refused to set any deadline to seal the much hyped deal claiming “since it is government to government procedure, the deal would be quick”.

The French Defence Minister is expected to be in New Delhi on 6th May to finalise the modalities for the negotiations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to France last month had signed an agreement to buy 36 Rafale fighter jets for over USD 6 billion.
